CinePort

Sydney, October 2007 Pawel Achtel announces availability of unique underwater CinePortTM optics for motion picture.
The new optical port is designed for wide angle cinematography using HD, 2k and 4k cameras.
It is thought to be the sharpest underwater optical port in the world, exceeding ports used for IMAX cameras.
Distortion and chromatic aberrations are negligible even at full frame 4k resolution.
Curvature of field was greatly reduced resulting in vastly improved resolution in the corner areas.
Due to large, 6" curvature radius there is no need for close focus diopter.
Despite the large size, CinePort features extraordinary uniformity of surface and optical coating exceeding many high-end cinematographic lenses.
High grade optical glass, high precision surface finish and spectral coating contribute to astounding light transmission characteristics greater than 99.7% throughout the entire visible spectrum. For comparison, a top of the range Hoya Pro HMC clear filter has transmittance of approximately 98%. Most high definition underwater ports have light transmission lower than 90%.
Large area of water to air intersection additionally reduces backscatter and improves contrast.
Specially designed conical body and integrated light shade practically eliminate flare, ghosting and internal reflections. The resulting contrast and sharpness (MTF) is unmatched by any other wide angle underwater port..
The result is breathtaking wide angle image of unparallel sharpness, contrast and clarity highly sought for TVC and feature film work.
The port is available for hire only. It can be used with most 2/3" HD cameras. Housing for 35mm Red and Phantom HD cameras is in development and expected to be available by the end of the year.
