March-April 2007: Pawel Achtel films weedy and leafy seadragons in Southern Australia. The footage was acquired at depth of about 20m with lush, abundant and diverse algae background. The footage was acquired using HDCAM camera, special high resolution wide angle and closup lens ports and 1000W underwater lighting system. The most challanging were closeup shots: with the depth of field of just a few millimiters it is difficult to control an 80kg camera and follow a free swimming fish. But, the results were certainly worth the effort. The closup shots are rock steady, cinema grade, and reveal some extreme detail of those beautiful fish.
